About

Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is one of the largest multi-campus institutions on the island, catering to a broad range of students, staff, communities, and organizations from both the local area and beyond. The Mulcahy Report of 1967 advocated for the creation of several Regional Technical Colleges across Ireland, emphasizing that the academic system at the time did not provide sufficient opportunities for technical skills development. The Regional Technical College Galway welcomed its first students on September 18, 1972, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the region's educational history.
